Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration. Hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Solve the world's problems! Don't worry if you don't drink alcohol many of our members prefer soft drinks. See you there!

JOIN our VENICE VISIBILITY BRIGADE- Rush Hour Resistance EVERY FRIDAY MORNING from 8 AM to 9 AM at the Legacy Trail Pedestrian Bridge overpass at the bypass US 41 in Venice just north of TJ Maxx shopping center. BRING YOUR SIGNS: we’ll bring the black boards with white letters. PARKING: near Joey D’s Pizza, which is very close to the Legacy Trail   The Visibility Brigade is a national movement, which emphasizes a strict non-confrontational approach. If you are participating or passing by, the organizers' protocol includes: - De-escalation: No engagement with hecklers or agitators. - Positive Vibes: Waving, using bubbles, or wearing costumes to maintain a high-energy, peace. We’ve had a lot of supporters who say they are glad we are there.

RALLY EVERY TUESDAY from 9 -11am with INDIVISIBLE SARASOTA outside the Siesta Drive Social Security Office - we gather to say 'HANDS OFF SOCIAL SECURITY' and to show our outrage of what the Trump administration is doing to our country, the people and the Constitution. BRING YOUR SIGNS and BRING YOUR FRIENDS (and a folding chair if needed) Bring a sign about Social Security or any other topic related to the resistance against the MAGA attack on our democracy! Parking is right across Siesta Drive in the empty shopping mall parking lot. The rally is in the shade and during morning rush hour, so it will be relatively cool but with a lot of visibility. By persisting week after week, we are showing our neighbors in Sarasota that we are in this for the long term and will persevere as long as necessary. Expect lots of supportive honking of horns.

The Democratic Women's Club of Sarasota County invite you to a special opportunity to meet the school board candidates! This town hall will spotlight Beth Mayberry, Megan Tinnemon, Jimmy Glover, and Scarlett Hess. Each candidate will share their platform, their goals, and their commitments to students, families, and teachers. This will be followed by a Q&A from the audience. Please invite friends and neighbors, especially first-time voters or those who may need more information ahead of the election! We will be voting for our school board candidates THIS AUGUST on the 18th, with early voting beginning on August 8th! At this meeting, you will also learn about opportunities to help at voting sites across the county during early voting AND on Election Day. BOOK DONATIONS REQUESTED! As we get closer to summer, we are asking attendees to bring donations of books for beginner readers to teens. Special need for books in Spanish or English/Spanish (bilingual). Commonly requested topics are graphic novels (especially the Dog Man series), sports, nature and science, fantasy, Star Wars and superheroes, and animals. Book donations will be split between Free Book Fair, which brings FREE books to students in Title 1 schools, and a local immigrant support mutual aid. Let's keep ALL kids reading! We will also continue to collect donations of non-perishable food, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies for the Food For Our Neighbors drive. Thank you for your generosity!
