Voices of Florida Fund’s 6th Annual Backpack Drive Supporting youth academic success since 2021.Voices of Florida Fund and El Pueblo Unido are proud to host our 6th Annual Backpack Drive, a community-led effort to provide new backpacks and essential school supplies to students. BRING YOUR DONATION TO DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERS UNTIL THURSDAY JULY 30. HQ is opened MONDAY - FRIDAY from 11am - 2 pm. Each year, families face rising costs at the start of the school year — especiallyfamilies facing economic hardship, housing insecurity, or limited access toacademic resources. Many of these students enter the school year without thebasic tools they need to participate fully in the classroom. Your support helpsbridge that gap and ensures every child has a fair shot at success.This initiative is about more than notebooks and pencils — it’s about equity,dignity, and a strong start for every student. Where donations go: Supplies are allocated based on need with a focus on communities facing the greatest barriers to back-to-school resources.

RALLY EVERY TUESDAY from 9 -11am with INDIVISIBLE SARASOTA outside the Siesta Drive Social Security Office - we gather to say 'HANDS OFF SOCIAL SECURITY' and to show our outrage of what the Trump administration is doing to our country, the people and the Constitution. BRING YOUR SIGNS and BRING YOUR FRIENDS (and a folding chair if needed) Bring a sign about Social Security or any other topic related to the resistance against the MAGA attack on our democracy! Parking is right across Siesta Drive in the empty shopping mall parking lot. The rally is in the shade and during morning rush hour, so it will be relatively cool but with a lot of visibility. By persisting week after week, we are showing our neighbors in Sarasota that we are in this for the long term and will persevere as long as necessary. Expect lots of supportive honking of horns.
